I grew up with three brothers and no sisters in mid-city Los Angeles, CA. I was born second, and my younger brothers are twins. My mom (a childhood pianist phenom of San Diego, CA) was told she could not have children. What did those doctors know? I am married to my best friend in the whole wide world, James Woods Jr., who is an only child who is originally from Vaiden, MS. We live in Carthage, MS and help care for elderly parents/in-laws. My mom passed away in 2021 and my father (sketch artist and painter who served in 3 tours to Vietnam) has since returned to his hometown in Chicago, IL. We love being in the same time zone, and we talk a lot about art, politics, and astronomy.
What are your hobbies? What’s your passion?
I love to write and to create. I have a passion for storytelling.
How did you hear about Mad Genius?
I came across a job posting on Indeed.
What is the one thing no one really knows about you?
I am lucky. My grandfather gave me the nickname “Lucky” when I was a baby. Either I or people right next to me win raffles. However, I am so averse to gambling and playing the lottery.
Tell us about your first day at Mad Genius.
Being in the lab, meeting new faces, and collaborating with a talented group of geniuses here in Mississippi feels like a dream. I’m already inspired by the electric energy and passion for building brands and crafting innovative storytelling.
Of all the world’s geniuses, whom do you most admire?
There are so many to consider. In addition to my mention of mathematician and physicist Katherine Johnson (portrayed in the film, “Hidden Figures”), I also think of Lonnie G. Johnson, the engineer and inventor best known for creating the Super Soaker and who has over 100 patents is also someone I admire greatly.
