James Ninness is a writer. He’s published comic books and short stories, and has written some films as well. Perhaps most relevant to Mad Genius, James is an experienced marketer with Southern Californian agency experience, having worked as a creative director, senior copywriter, and marketing director.
James received his Bachelor of Arts in English: Creative Writing from Cal State University, Long Beach. He almost immediately got married to the love of his life, Kyleen. The two of them have made three babies and adopted several dogs.
If James isn’t working at Mad Genius, you’ll find him with his family. If he isn’t with his wife, daughters, or dogs, he’ll be writing his own stuff. And that’s it. That’s all he does. It’s the dream.

My wife, Kyleen, is my wrangler. I do whatever she wants, it’s her superpower. We have two daughters and a son: a brunette, a blonde, and a redhead because my genes are out of control.
What are your hobbies? What’s your passion?
Writing. Always writing. And reading. And music and television and movies and video games. Stories. My passion and my hobby are the same thing: stories.
How did you hear about Mad Genius?
LinkedIn. I was like, “Look at these fine folk in Mississippi doing all kinds of crazy good work! I wanna do that…”
What is the one thing no one really knows about you?
I used to love toilet-papering houses. And I’m pretty sure my dog, Huckleberry, is my soulmate. There. That’s two things.

Rick was waiting at the front door to shake my hand as I entered. (I’m pretty sure he just happened to be leaving when I showed up, but I’m going to go with “Rick was waiting at the front door to shake my hand.”) Everyone was super sweet. Ryan and I ate sushi.
Of all the world’s geniuses, whom do you most admire?
Mary Somerville. She was a mathematician, scientist, astronomer, geographer, who could write about math, science, astronomy, and geography in such a way that anyone could understand.
